The key handler

Access that follows the booking.

The door code is created, scoped and expired by the reservation itself. Nobody types a code into a lock app, and nobody has to remember to remove it afterward.

From the booking to the door

Step 1 of 5 · Connect

It works with the lock you already own

Everything runs through Seam, so one integration covers most major smart lock brands. You sign into your existing lock account and your devices appear. Then locks get attached to rooms, and a unit with a building entrance and its own door can share one code across both.

What it handles

Each of these used to be a task on someone's list. Here's what runs it now.

  • A code per booking

    Access

Created when the reservation arrives, named for the guest.

  • Codes that outlive the stay

    Access

Scoped to the room's real check-in and checkout, with a grace you can tune.

  • Dates changed, code stale

    Access

The window recalculates, and a cancelled booking is revoked at once.

  • Upgrades the door ignores

    Access

Approve a paid early check-in and the code starts earlier, for the hours bought.

  • Keys for everyone else

    Access

Permanent codes for cleaners and maintenance, plus lock and unlock from your dashboard.

  • A dead lock, discovered late

    Access

Offline and low-battery locks trigger an email alert naming the lock.

Under the hood

How it actually works

  1. 1

It works with the locks you already own

Everything runs through Seam, so one integration covers most major smart lock brands. You sign into your existing lock account and your devices appear. No hub to buy, no firmware to flash.

  2. 2

The code comes from the stay

When a reservation lands from your PMS, the code is created automatically and valid only for that room's check-in to checkout. By default it is the last four digits of the guest's phone number, so guests rarely need to look it up.

  3. 3

    It keeps up without you

Dates shift and the window recalculates. A cancelled booking is revoked from the lock, and a reinstated one gets a new code. A paid early check-in, once you approve it, moves the start time.

  4. 4

Access is gated, not just delivered

Guests cannot see their code in the app until your required steps are done. The assistant shares it only around the stay, and door codes are kept out of everything it learns.
